Neighborhood Leaders
Bob Barney
President - Claremont Neighborhood Association
Bob Barney has been a South End resident since 1984 and serves as president of the Claremont Neighborhood Association. As Project Coordinator for the Southwest Corridor Park Conservancy and a member of various community groups, Bob is dedicated to maintaining the neighborhood's diversity and vibrancy. He is committed to uniting Mass Ave residents into a cohesive community, ensuring the South End remains a dynamic place for both residents and businesses.
Carol Blair
President, Chester Square Neighbors
Carol grew up in a small Vermont city, exploring by foot and bicycle. Her fascination with transportation led to a career in Boston, spanning government, private sector, and non-profits. Now retired and a grandmother, she dedicates her time to family and community. Carol finds joy in connecting people, places, and ideas, viewing neighborhood work as a boundless, holistic endeavor. She envisions a future where pedestrians and cyclists travel safely, buses move freely, motor vehicles are used efficiently, and people connect among tree-lined streets.
Joan Carragher
President - St. Botolph Neighborhood Association
Joan and her husband Mike moved to the neighborhood in 2016 and she has been president of the SBNA since 2018. Professionally, she has worked in marketing, public outreach, decorative painting and wine sales. (Not all at the same time, haha) Her favorite part of living here? That even though we live in the city, our corner of Boston feels like a real neighborhood where you run into friends and familiar faces every day, and where neighbors truly help one another.
